Why is it ok to drink beer but not ok smoke cannibus (pot)?

I only like one brand of beer and don't smoke at all. But from my personal research, it doesn't seem like beer is any less problematic/harmful than cannibus. I consider myself a logical person, but can't come to a logical conclusion... Is there one?
