What was the medicine 'Virol' used for?

My Dad is a construction worker and he dug up a load of old Jars and Gles and brought them home. One of them was a brown, embossed gl Virol jar. I know it was a medicine made out of Bone Marrow for "Children and Invalids', but I wanted to find out a bit more. Can anyone tell me anthing?
