What can be used instead of rat Poison + slug pellets?

You can buy live traps for the mice, then take the live mice and drop them off miles away from your house. For the snails, you can buy copper wire and place a ring of copper on the base of each plant. Snails will not touch copper, therefore they will not climb the plants to eat the leaves. Also, you can get a few small bowls and put beer in them, snails love beer and will go to that instead of the plants. That method can be a pain though because you have to refill the bowls every day.
